For agencies that serve healthcare

Hospitals, clinics, and dental offices need an interpreter cleared for medical work, often on short notice. IMP helps your agency deliver, day and night.

Cleared for medical work

Each language pair on an interpreter's profile carries the settings they're cleared for. A medical job only goes to interpreters cleared for medical work, with the credentials the job needs.

Credentials like NIC, CDI, and BEI I to V sit on the same profile. Your team sets them, and interpreters can't change them.

Covered after the office closes

Hospitals call your line at any hour. The AI Receptionist checks the hospital's PIN, works your on-call chain by text and phone, and calls the unit back with an arrival time.

  • A PIN for each hospital, so only real units can dispatch
  • On-call first, then a backup, on the timing you set
  • Escalation contacts get each update by text

Video that works for the patient

IMP places VRI and OPI calls, and keeps ASL requests on video. Whether a call works for a Deaf patient also depends on the setup at the bedside.

What the ADA asks of VRI

The ADA rules for video remote interpreting (28 CFR 35.160(d) and 36.303(f)) call for real-time, full-motion video, a picture large enough to show the interpreter's face, arms, hands, and fingers, clear audio, and staff trained to set it up quickly.

The NAD and Deaf Seniors of America's minimum standards for VRI in medical settings treat VRI as a fallback when a qualified onsite interpreter isn't available.

When your interpreters are busy, overflow coverage can offer live calls to the IMP Interpreter Network: ASL on video, Spanish and French on video and phone.

The Place a call window: call types OPI, VRI, and AI OPI, a language search, American Sign Language selected, a category, Start Video Call, and a mic, camera, and speaker test

Placing a video call in IMP

Pick VRI, choose the language, and start the call. ASL is offered on video calls only, and staff can test the mic, camera, and speaker before they start.

The video frame is an illustration. The requirements come from the ADA rules cited above.

Examples

The hospital's own portal

Hospital staff request interpreters in their own portal, and see only their own account.

  • Requests from Limited Requestors wait for the hospital's Account Admin to approve them
  • Custom fields for the details each hospital needs, like a department
  • Invoices by account, paid by card in the portal when sent from IMP
For clients

Privacy in the details

  • Job offers pushed to interpreters leave out the client's name.
  • Overnight callbacks to the unit carry no names or numbers.
  • Offers show only the details you choose until an interpreter is confirmed.
  • Client roles see only their own account.

Can IMP handle on-demand medical interpreting?

Yes. Place VRI and OPI calls through IMP, and schedule onsite interpreters for appointments.

How do you make sure interpreters are qualified for medical work?

Each language pair on a profile carries the settings the interpreter is cleared for, like Medical. Medical jobs go only to interpreters cleared for it, with the credentials the job needs.

Does it handle sign language and spoken languages?

Yes. IMP handles both, onsite and remote, and keeps ASL, CDI, CART, and TypeWell requests off audio-only calls.

Can hospitals reach us overnight?

Yes, with the AI Receptionist in Premium. Overnight dispatch checks each hospital's PIN, works your on-call chain, and calls the unit back with an arrival time.

How is patient information handled?

Client roles see only their own account, offers show only the details you choose until an interpreter is confirmed, and job notifications leave out the client name.

What if our interpreters are busy?

Overflow coverage can offer live calls to the IMP Interpreter Network after a delay you set: ASL on video, Spanish and French on video and phone.
